John’s proud that his previous building company won numerous Master Builders awards. One of his career highlights was scooping the Master Builders Showhome of the Year after his team successfully navigated some significant industry shifts with grit, hard work and adaptability. During the same period his company received the South Island Franchise of the Year, and National Franchise of the year! “It was incredibly rewarding to see what my team had achieved, with their dedication recognised by Master Builders” says John.

 

With carpentry as his specialty, John has clocked up considerable hands-on construction and supervisory experience over decades. He has lead teams, project managed and costed up a variety of building projects from start to finish ensuring that they were completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. His considerable background as a Managing Director of a thriving building franchise involved every aspect, from making strategic decisions to managing operations and coordinating teams across building projects.

 

His career has also included apartment construction experience which brought its own unique challenges, especially in terms of scheduling, costing and managing onsite staff. Using comprehensive building systems and software improved efficiency and reduced the chances of errors or delays. He found this invaluable when navigating the inherent complexities of multi-unit properties, along with overseeing specific projects on a contractual basis and coordinating with different stakeholders, all while ensuring optimal project delivery.
