Opening New Doors for Homeowners in Otago.

James Crooks and Andrew Herbert are excited to open Green Homes Otago providing energy efficient homes to the local community. They’re proud to be part of The Green Homes New Zealand group and what they have to offer, particularly because of their strong systems, “impress culture” and established plan base.

Meet Andrew:

Andrew Herbert comes from a family building background, his father owned a building company in the sixties & seventies, and he grew up on weekends working on construction sites. In later years his father started a waterproofing membrane business that he worked in for ten years, learning the ropes and helping to build the business.

After Andrew’s father retired, he continued working in the building industry doing contract installing which included metal roofing, spouting & fascia, wall cladding and waterproofing. All these products are still used in today’s building processes and they gave him a strong understanding of the wants and needs of the potential homeowner’s requirements.

After twenty years in the building industry he decided to pursue a career in sales, in 2005 he accepted a position as the area manager for one of the world’s largest paint suppliers looking after the lower South Island’s distribution network. During this time the Dunedin distributorship became available and he purchased the business and operated it successfully over the following ten years. Recently he sold the business and came across an unmissable opportunity and opened Green Homes Otago!

He also joins James Crooks who brings a wealth of building knowledge to the business, together they believe they can build a strong partnership to deliver the very best experience to their clientele – who’s requirements are limited only by their imagination.

Introducing James:

James Crooks has been in the building industry for over 40 years, mostly in Dunedin. Having served his apprenticeship in Invercargill before spending a year working on Commercial Hotels in Queenstown and then spending several years working as builder during his OE. In that time he worked in Australia ,Canada, America and The UK before coming back  home and settling in Dunedin.

Starting his own Business in 1992 James has built over 100 houses in the Otago area, including many alterations and several large commercial steel sheds. He has developed a good reputation for delivering a quality product. James has also been heavily involved in The Otago Registered Master Builders serving over 20 years on the executive board including a term as local President. He has also been a National finalist in the House of The Year Awards.
New showhome coming soon!

Green Homes Otago is building a showhome in Highland Park, Mosgiel and plan to open this later in the year. The Green Homes difference provides all the attributes they believe many are searching for in a building company. It offers a sustainable building process and delivers this in spades when it comes to the finished product, where you can indeed feel right at home with Green Homes.

Andrew & James look forward to providing the Otago area with stylish homes that will perform well in the local climate – for now and in future years to come.
