Green Homes is entering an exciting new chapter in Central Otago, with Wal Dix and Marcus Hohapata joining forces to build on the strong foundation established by outgoing franchise owners Lisa Stars and Jamie Glover.
Wal Dix, Owner and Director of Tāhuna Construction Limited trading as Green Homes Queenstown, has partnered with Marcus Hohapata, Director of Queenstown-based Remarkable Construction Limited, to establish Tūāpapa Construction Limited, trading as Green Homes Central Otago. While operating under shared leadership, both franchises will retain a strong local focus within their respective territorie
Wal will lead sales and business development, while Marcus will oversee operations as Joint Managing Director of Green Homes Central Otago. The business is already preparing for projects throughout Alexandra, Wānaka, Hāwea, Cromwell and surrounding areas.
Marcus brings extensive regional building experience and a deep understanding of the unique challenges associated with constructing homes across Central Otago and the Southern Lakes. Since establishing Remarkable Construction in 2014, he has earned a reputation for quality workmanship, a hands-on approach, and strong relationships with local trades and suppliers. His expertise complements Wal’s experience in leading and growing the Green Homes Queenstown operation.
Rather than marking a new beginning, the partnership represents the continuation of a well-established local success story. Wal and Marcus are committed to building on the respected reputation Lisa and Jamie have developed over many years, while maintaining the strong trade, supplier, and community relationships that underpin the business.

The partnership also creates an opportunity to strengthen the focus on high-performing, sustainable homes designed specifically for Central Otago’s demanding climate conditions.

Tūāpapa Construction has also confirmed a strategic building partnership with Te Pā Haeata in Alexandra, a master-planned residential community developed by Ngāi Tahu Property. Green Homes Central Otago will bring its energy-efficient building approach to the development and is now welcoming enquiries for the first release, expected in September 2026.
The name Tūāpapa reflects the philosophy behind the new operation. In te reo Māori, tūāpapa refers to a solid base or foundation upon which something is built, symbolising the values, relationships, and local connections that will guide the business into its next phase.
