Opening New Doors for Homeowners in Queenstown

Unlock new beginnings where sustainability meets style and savings – no, really!

Dispelling a commonly held myth,  greener building doesn’t necessarily mean blowing your home budget when you recruit a talented design team with a holistic, cost sensitive, future proofing approach.

Whether you’re after an aspirational and architecturally designed abode, or a dual income investment property, or both, the team at Green homes Queenstown can help you find the best pre-designed, or bespoke plan for your site. Built for thermal performance and comfort, even in the most rugged of climates, you’ll really feel the difference in a Green home!

Introducing Wal Dix, Managing Director, Green Homes Queenstown

Meet Wal Dix, a seasoned local of Queenstown for over three decades, whose keen eye spotted a glaring void in the local housing market: a lack of high-performance homes as a standard offering. Green Homes was a natural choice for Wal and his team to offer more sustainable building solutions where building and design efficiencies really do save on home running costs.

Wal’s experience in the building industry

Wal has also been a residential Pre-purchase Inspector and Asbestos Management Surveyor for the past five years. He holds a Diploma in Building Surveying with NZIBS and the BOHS IP402 qualification for Asbestos Surveying in Buildings as well as being a current LBP.

Wal also has a small residential building company which has been operating since 2005 in the Queenstown area with several projects currently underway.

Why he joined Green Homes

After observing poor outcomes for homeowners as a surveyor because of the design, building methods employed and general lack of understanding of the science behind a building’s performance, the Green Homes Brand really struck a chord with Wal as it focuses on design and performance for better outcomes for future generations in terms of sustainable materials, energy efficiency and healthy living for occupants as a result.

Wal is proud that Green Homes New Zealand is a member of the Green Building Council plus he is passionate about incorporating Universal Design principles into some of his new builds via their design partner Lifemark. Lifemark accredited homes are safer and more accessible, especially for people with mobility issues, or for those who want to future proof their home well into retirement and beyond.
